Family Emergency Planning Day on March 20
Join one of our free planning sessions to create plans for your worries.
The details surrounding the death of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, give us all pause.
It's difficult to imagine Mr. Hackman, who had Alzheimer's, living alone in the house for week after wife's death.
It's also easy to worry about our caregiving situations. What plans do we have in place to ensure an immediate response during an emergency?
We've designated March 20 as Family Emergency Planning Day to help you create just those kinds of plans.
We also know that other kinds of emergencies happen like:
🚩 A program or benefit that helps you and/or your caree ends because of funding cuts or the eligibility requirement has been met
🚩 A weather disaster means you and your caree must evacuate
🚩 You get the flu which means you can't provide care while you are sick and recovering
🚩 The intensity of deadlines at work makes managing both caregiving and work responsibilities really difficult
On March 20, join one of our virtual free planning sessions to receive help as you begin your own planning process. We'll share a plan you can use to get started. (One of our Certified Caregiving Consultants is also holding a free planning session in Boulder on March 20.)
We have a special section in our community, Caring Our Way, devoted just to Family Emergency Planning. You can join that special space to register to join us March 20 and to receive our additional resources.
A recent attendee to one of our Family Emergency Planning sessions said:
"You provided aspects about making a family emergency plan that I didn't even think about. You always mean to do it but something always comes up. lol. You gave me the incentive, Denise. Every (program) that I have taken with you has been top-notch. I have never been disappointed or have never not learned something new. Thank you."
It's awful to worry about what could happen. It's helpful to talk it out and create plans.
Every worry needs a plan.
