In the News: Binti Circle and Working Family Caregivers
Sharing our stories and ideas ensures family caregivers connect to a network of support and working family caregivers have strategies to remain in the workplace.
We made the news on Friday:
The Binti Circle on WMAR
Dawnita Brown, a Certified Caregiving Consultant, Educator and Facilitator discussed the support network she created, The Binti Circle, with WMAR in Baltimore. Dawnita also joined us recently during our Conversations with Caregivers series to talk about the emergency beginning to caregiving. You can connect with Dawnita through her website, https://heycaregiver.com/
Support for Working Family Caregivers in Success magazine
I shared thoughts about managing caregiving responsibilities and a career with Jaclyn Greenberg in a Success magazine article, How Company Leaders Can Offer Caregiver Support to an Employee. I so appreciated the opportunity to connect with Jaclyn about this important story.
During my conversation with Jaclyn, I mentioned that we could benefit from a mentor in our workplace who has experience managing their career and a caregiving experience. 💡 After our conversation, I created and launched the Certified Caregiving Mentor program. (I'll share more about how we're using our Mentor program in early June.)
I so enjoyed my conversation with Jaclyn that I invited her to join a talk show discussion called The Stuffed Calendar. How we do schedule and keep all the appointments our caree needs while getting where we need to be? Jaclyn shared honest, raw insights about her experiences.
Jaclyn had to leave her job because of her caregiving responsibilities. She figured out a way to remain in the workforce -- launching her own small business as a freelance writer.
Let's continue to talk about what we need so that we can receive what we want.
