During our caregiving experience, we can search and search and search for a good listener, someone who receives our story without trying to fix or change us.
On January 16, 2023, we’re connecting family caregivers with just that — good listeners.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a Day of Service, volunteers will gather virtually to receive Caregiving Stories. Through our event, we’ll create awareness of both the caregiving experience and the power of listening. Most important, we’ll relieve stress that a family caregiver may feel because they can’t find a good listener. We’ll be that good listener a family caregiver deserves.
Volunteers will listen to 4-minute stories told by family caregivers and former family caregivers. After they hear the story, volunteers will engage in a conversation about the story and the experience. In total, volunteers will spend 15 minutes with each Story-Teller. When you volunteer for an hour, you’ll hear three stories. When you volunteer to be a Caregiving Listener, you’ll receive our two-hour training, The Art of Listening, at no cost.
If you or a team member would be interested in volunteering, please join us on November 18 at 1 p.m. ET to learn more. You can RSVP to join me here: https://listenproject.eventbrite.com.
