I finally have settled on this belief: The systems see our work, they simply prefer that our work be free. For a long time, I thought this perspective was too cynical to be true. The more I ask individuals within the systems about reimbursing family caregivers, the more I think they value our work, they benefit from our work and they love it when our work is free.
