We Need Caregiving Departments
Tap in in-house expertise to support those who care within an organization.
Imagine that as you care for an aging parent and a child with special needs you meet with a staff member at your organization’s Caregiving Department every six months to create your Family Emergency Plan. During a crisis, you call the Caregiving Department to talk out next steps and strategies so that you have a clear direction in managing your parent’s hospital discharge and return to home. With this support, you continue to manage your work because of the knowledge and wisdom of the Caregiving Department’s staff.
Even better, the staff in your organization’s Caregiving Department are your co-workers who understand because they cared for their own family members. Because of their caregiving expertise, your organization promoted them to staff the Caregiving Department. Because they work within your organization, they also understand the culture, the busy season and the business. They understand your work experience and your caregiving responsibilities.
Your organization provides twice-a-year Family Emergency Planning Sessions with staff in your Caregiving Department at no cost to you. You can pay for additional consultations at a reduced rate of $30 per 30-minute sessions. In addition to providing much-needed support and resources to keep the business running, the Caregiving Department also generates revenue to cover its costs.
It’s a service, a benefit and a tool to retain the organization’s talent. It’s convenient, relevant and timely. The staff at the Caregiving Department understands challenges in hiring providers, finding help and managing family dynamics. They can keep their pulse on changes within the local health care system and provider network. Because they get it, they can brainstorm solutions and offer outside-the-box ideas.
I first had this idea in January 2020. It’s an idea who’s time has arrived.
We need in-house solutions. We need to connect to another who gets our organization’s culture and business because that does impact the help and support we need during our caregiving experience.
Let’s start the conversation about the possibility within your organization. Join me on October 5 at 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT, 10 a.m. PT) to learn how you can start the conversation and how we can help you launch in-house solutions like caregiving support groups and, if you’re ready to dive into the deep end, the Caregiving Department. I also will tell how our support and training can ensure the successful launch of your programs.
We need our work. Our work needs us. Let’s make that happen by supporting everyone with a Caregiving Department.
