What's Your Caregiving Value?
We can tally our caregiving value to demonstrate how much we save the systems.
For years I cared for my parents, my grandmother, and my aunt. I showed up for all of them. I managed their medications, their medical records, their nervous systems, their worries and uncertainty. I advocated for their best care and their quality of life while doing what I could to keep mine. I did it without a billing code. Without a reimbursement rate. Without anyone calculating its value.
So I built a tool that does.
✨ The Non-Reimbursed Family Caregiver Savings Calculator is live.
It asks you to name what you do — across 45 types of caregiving in 7 categories — and then shows you exactly what a trained professional would be reimbursed to do the same work. Your annual value. Your monthly value. Your lifetime contribution. And a shareable card you can download and post.
I ran my own numbers. My caregiving was worth $57,200 every year — non-reimbursed. Over my years of caregiving, that’s $1.83 million. And 33,280 hours of my life.
Every system around you gets reimbursed. You hold all of them together. And you do it without the billing code that would make your reimbursement possible.
That changes when we name it.

When you get your number, share your card on social media and CaringOurWay.com with the hashtag #MyCareValue. I would love to see it. I would love to know what stood out for you in terms of what you do and its value when you complete the tool.
I’ll provide a live demo of our tool on Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m. ET. Join me to learn more about the tool and to calculate your value during our time together. Register.
Wishing you and yours a day that honors all who nurtured and nurture you.

I wasn’t sure how many hours to put, since mom lives with us, and even when she is at the senior center I am on call (and get called!). So I put all the hours. Almost half a million dollars! So even if I cut my estimated hours in half, that’s a lot. My mom does have an income and pays us 3k/month, which really just barely covers the cost of having her at home (utilities etc). Still, I know some of my siblings resent it and think it is too much. This calculator really made me feel good, made me feel seen. Thank you!!!!
Mine was half a million is that only for one person I take care of both my mom and disabled adult daughter. It’s nice to know I’m saving the state and my father so much money. Ughhh
