During the fog of caregiving, we can lose sight of what we deserve. Let’s walk through the fog to find what we deserve.
You deserve:
Help and support that shows up when you need help and support.
Respect for your expertise and insights.
Quiet spaces to gather your courage or thoughts or patience (or all three).
Quiet time to compose yourself when the moments get really tough.
Regular reminders that your life outside your caregiving role matters — without guilt or apologies or worries.
Opportunities to pursue other dimensions of your being outside of your caregiving role — your work, your relationships, your talents, your dreams.
Conversations that go deep about caregiving with those who can be with you during the painful discussions about a caregiving experience.
Chances to connect with what makes life sweet so we can keep away what could make our life bitter.
A cure for FOMO which is: You can’t compare your life to another’s. When you live the life that’s right for you, you can’t miss.
Random acts of kindness every day so that you receive what you give. When you receive, you understand the difference your kindness makes.
A quality of life that connects you to who and what you love.
What would you add to my list?
